CD

The DVDGenerator can connect to CD-R burners and produce several types of CDs

Audio CD

Audio CDs are the standard CD purchased in record stores. The CD can hold 74 minutes of audio in stereo, sampled at 44.1KHz and 16 bit per sample. The CD Audio format is called "Red book".

CD-ROM

CD-ROM is the format most popular today for distribution of software games and data for the PC environment. A CD-ROM disc can contain 650 MB of data.

DVD CD

This format allows approximately 15 minutes of full quality DVD movies to be recorded on a CD. The DVD CD can be played primarily on DVD-ROM players on the PC and Mac. The format is most widely used for corporate DVD presentations and mass marketing. This is due to the significantly lower price of the CD.

Hybrid CD

Hybrid CDs are CDs that include both a CD Audio section and a CD-ROM section. The audio part can be accessed by any CD player, while the ROM section can only be accessed by CD-ROM players.

DVD

DVD Video

DVD-Video is the format used by all the video movies purchased or rented in video shops. The DVD-Video format is the highest quality media currently available to the consumer. DVD video supports both MPEG 1 and MPEG 2 video as well as a wide range of audio formats. DVD video supports multiple languages/dubbing and multiple angles. A DVD can typically hold 110 - 135 minutes of video.

DVD-ROM

DVD-ROM is the successor of CD-ROM. It can be read by DVD-ROM drives on the PC or Mac. A DVD-ROM comes in two sizes, 3.95GB and 4.7GB (approx. 6-7 times larger than CD-ROM).

Hybrid DVD

Hybrid DVDs are DVD Video discs that have DVD-ROM section. The discs are very popular for "enhanced" DVD movie titles. The video section can be played on the DVD set top box. When inserted in the PC, the user can access additional features such as games, web links etc.

DVD-Audio

DVD audio is the highest quality audio disc available today. DVD audio allows up to 8 channels of audio, sampled at 96 KHz and at 24 bits per sample. DVD audio supports interactive menus including lyrics and notes regarding the music.

Stream

The DVD Generator can connect to any streaming media server. The media is stored on the system at the highest possible level. Using a transcoder, the media can be downgraded to any level of video, allowing delivery at any bandwidth.
The DVDGenerator can be used for video-on-demand and digital broadcast since both formats use MPEG-2 video formats.
